José Luis and José Armando Cevallos
Two Ecuadorian social media personalities who shared their daily lives with hundreds of thousands of followers have passed away at just 27, leaving their family and online community mourning a heartbreaking loss.
José Luis and José Armando Cevallos, who were born as conjoined twins, died after both experienced heart attacks while receiving medical treatment. Their deaths were announced through their shared Instagram account, where their family posted: “Their journey, their smiles, and their way of seeing life touched countless hearts and left a lasting impression.”
More details about the brothers’ final moments were later revealed on the Spanish-language television program Y Ahora Sonsoles. Fernando Carrillo, a close friend of the twins, explained that both brothers had been admitted to the hospital after Luis suffered a heart attack.
Medical staff succeeded in stabilizing him, but tragedy struck again just minutes later when his brother also experienced a heart attack. According to Carrillo, both brothers passed away.
Their brother, Damián, also expressed the family’s sorrow during the broadcast, saying: “There are no words to explain how my parents are feeling.”
Shared their lives with hundreds of thousands online
Luis and José Armando gained a substantial online following by allowing people to see glimpses of their everyday experiences. They had accumulated more than 835,000 followers on TikTok, while their joint Instagram account had attracted over 60,000 followers.
In their final post, published on October 12, the brothers shared a workout video showing them standing upright while using a wall for support.
After news of their passing became public, their social media pages filled with heartfelt messages from followers expressing their sadness and honoring the brothers’ memories.
One person commented: “May this candle continue to shine and lead your souls toward the glory of our Eternal Father. Rest in peace.”
Another Instagram user expressed shock and disbelief, writing: “I can’t believe this! I only recently discovered his videos. What an incredible story.”
“Their legacy will live on”
In a separate Instagram tribute posted four days before news of their deaths was reported, the family expressed gratitude to everyone who had stood by the brothers throughout their lives.
“We are truly grateful to everyone who encouraged them, had faith in them, and celebrated every milestone they achieved.
“Thank you for being there as they pursued their dreams and for surrounding them with so much affection throughout their journey.
“Their memory and influence will continue through a phrase that always defined them: ‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way, and disability is no obstacle to living a happy life.’”
