I had only been dating my boyfriend for a few months when we decided to spend the day at a waterpark. Everything seemed perfect at first. We laughed, went on the slides, and floated around the lazy river like a happy couple.
Then, out of nowhere, a man approached me and quietly said, “You need help. Come with me. How could your boyfriend not tell you?”
I was stunned, but something in his voice made me follow him. He led me to the women’s restroom, where his wife was waiting by the door so I would feel safer.
When I looked in the mirror, I nearly fainted.
The back of my light-colored swimsuit was covered in blood.
I knew it wasn’t my period. The blood was higher up, near my lower back. Then I remembered I had recently had a small skin procedure there. The wound must have reopened on one of the water slides.
The woman helped me clean up, and I went straight to find my boyfriend.
When I asked if he had seen the blood, he looked embarrassed and admitted he had noticed it earlier.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked.
He shrugged and said, “I didn’t want to ruin the day.”
That moment told me everything.
A complete stranger showed me more care in one minute than my own boyfriend had all afternoon.
