Two horrifying accidents involving hiking and extreme sports have occurred in the last week, both in Brazil. Now, another horrifying accident is making headlines, although it happened some years ago. A 30-year-old posed for a photo, which was later called “cursed,” with his girlfriend moments before plunging 650ft to his death
A smiling selfie captured what would become one couple’s final moment together, and the heartbreaking image has since touched people worldwide.
Andrea Mazzetto, 30, had been enjoying a hike with his girlfriend, Sara Bragante, near the town of Rotzo in northern Italy when tragedy struck.

The couple stopped to take a photo together while exploring the scenic Altar Knotto rock formation. In the image, both are smiling, unaware that their lives were about to change forever.
According to reports, moments after the picture was taken, Andrea dropped his cellphone. As he attempted to retrieve it, he reportedly lost his footing and plunged around 650 feet down a cliff.
Emergency crews launched a rescue operation and used a helicopter to reach the area, but Andrea was pronounced dead at the scene.
