They weren’t.
Even more surprising, Olivia fully agreed with their expectations. She insisted this arrangement was normal in her family and acted as though I should be honored to accept it.
As the evening continued, I realized they weren’t discussing a marriage built on partnership. They were discussing a financial plan, and I was expected to fund it.
