A tick bite may first look like a small red bump with mild itching or swelling. The bigger concern is that some ticks can carry infections, which is why removing them quickly and cleaning the area well is important.

After a bite, it is important to watch for symptoms such as fever, fatigue, headaches, muscle or joint pain, swollen lymph nodes, or a spreading rash. Ticks can spread illnesses like Lyme disease and other infections, so warning signs should not be ignored.

To stay safe, ticks should be removed carefully with fine-tipped tweezers, and people should protect themselves outdoors by avoiding tall grass, wearing covering clothes, and checking their body and pets afterward. Early attention and prevention can greatly reduce the risk of complications.
