Every Friday, I sat in the back of a café watching my 17-year-old daughter, Maya, work to help pay for my surgery. She never complained—just quietly carried the weight.
One day, a rude customer lost her temper over something small and started insulting Maya, calling her “trash” in front of everyone. I stood up, ready to step in.
