Prince William reveals that he and Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton and Prince William have always shared a strong love for animals, a sentiment that is echoed throughout the Royal Family. One of the most famous pets in their lineage were the corgis once owned by the late Queen Elizabeth.

In 2011, the Prince and Princess of Wales introduced their first dog, marking the beginning of their shared passion for dogs. After the sad passing of their beloved dog Lupo in 2020, Kate’s brother gave them a new puppy, Orla, to join their three children.

While not much is publicly known about Orla, she has become a cherished member of the family. Prince William recently shared more details about her, revealing that she has a rather distinctive sleeping habit.

Although Kate and William come from vastly different backgrounds—Kate’s upbringing being more conventional and William’s shaped by his role as heir to the throne and the loss of his mother, Princess Diana—their mutual love for animals has always been a strong bond between them.

While details about their life at Adelaide Cottage are sparse, Prince William did share an interesting tidbit: their dog Orla often joins them in their bed at night.

The Royal Family has a long-standing tradition of keeping pets, particularly dogs. It seems William inherited this fondness from Queen Elizabeth II, who was especially fond of corgis.

Kate and William’s dog Lupo held great significance in their lives, even playing a role in naming their son George. When they couldn’t decide on a name for their newborn, they included Lupo in the process. They wrote potential names on scraps of paper and let Lupo choose by walking towards one. George’s name was chosen when Lupo approached the corresponding paper.

After Lupo passed away, William and Kate shared their sadness on social media, saying, “Our beloved dog, Lupo, sadly passed away. For the past nine years, he has been the center of our family, and we shall miss him terribly.”

Following Lupo’s death, the Wales family welcomed Orla, a new cocker spaniel, into their home. Orla, adopted from Kate’s brother James Middleton, has quickly become a beloved member of the family, and now George, Charlotte, and Louis have a furry companion to grow up with.

James Middleton expressed his joy that his niece and nephews could enjoy having a dog, saying, “I think they’re fortunate to have a dog in their lives.”

Orla’s name, meaning “golden princess,” is perfect for a royal pet. With her regal name, she is pampered at Adelaide Cottage, even sleeping in the couple’s bed.

Prince William recently shared more about Orla during a visit to Duchy College Stoke Climsland in Cornwall, where he met students and their dogs. He described Orla as affectionate and fond of cuddling, adding that she often sleeps with him and Kate at night.

It’s always touching to see Prince William’s warmth towards animals and the public. If you believe he would make a wonderful king, consider sharing this story with others!
