The 14-year-olds became Britain’s youngest parents

April Webster and Nathan Fishbourne became the youngest parents in the UK in 2010, after April became pregnant at just 13. Their story drew national attention, sparking debate, shock, and curiosity. Both families were devastated at first, but eventually rallied around the teenagers as they prepared to raise their son, Jamie. The baby’s early days were difficult—he was born via emergency C-section and needed surgery for a malformed oesophagus—but he eventually recovered and went home.

The young couple tried to navigate parenthood while still living separately with their families. April shared a bedroom with her older sister, who helped with bottle feedings, while Nathan lived a few miles away with his parents. Although April was determined to be “the best mother she could,” the relationship between her and Nathan began to fade. Within a few years, they separated, and by 2014 April admitted they were no longer in contact. She left school to care for Jamie full time, leaning heavily on the support of her mother and sister.

Today, their lives have taken very different but hopeful paths. April, now 28, goes by April Lianna and is a mother of three: Jamie Rhys, Ava Lianne, and Rowan David. She is happily partnered with Jake Jones and often shares glimpses of a warm, busy family life. Despite her early challenges, she has built a stable home and remains deeply devoted to her children.

Nathan, too, has moved forward. He became engaged to a woman named Samantha in 2023, and together they’ve built a new family of their own. Though he and April no longer share a relationship, both appear to be thriving as parents. Their story—once a tabloid sensation—has evolved into something far quieter: two young people who grew up, worked through hardship, and found their way to fulfilling lives despite the difficult start.
